will take place at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) in June 2027.

📄 Paper proposals should be 300 words maximum and include a title, email address, affiliation, and a bionote of no more than 100 words.

🩸 THE POSTHUMAN WOUND: Reimagining Trauma, Vulnerability, and Agency in a More-than-Human World

How can contemporary narratives help us rethink trauma, vulnerability and agency in a world where the human is increasingly understood as relational, embodied, and entangled with more-than-human worlds?

The conference explores the intersections between trauma studies and critical posthumanism, bringing together perspectives from environmental humanities, new materialisms, critical animal studies, media studies, disability studies, and related fields.

We welcome contributions on topics including:

🔹 AI, technoscience, surveillance, automation & datafication
🔹 The Anthropocene, climate fiction & ecological grief
🔹 Transhumanism, biotechnology & cyborg bodies
🔹 Multispecies relations & more-than-human kinship
🔹 Disability studies, crip theory & posthuman embodiment
🔹 Feminist, queer & decolonial posthumanisms
🔹 Posthumanism across genres and media
🔹 Ethics, care, justice, mourning, extinction, repair & hope

We are pleased to officially announce the landmark We are pleased to officially announce the landmark 20th International Conference on Contemporary Narratives in English, taking place from June 7-9, 2027, at the Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain.

This year, we invite the global academic community to convene under the theme: “The Posthuman Wound: Reimagining Trauma, Vulnerability, and Agency in a More-than-Human World”. 

Hosted at the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, this conference will serve as a forum for exploring the convergence of trauma studies and critical posthumanism in the 21st century.

Call for Papers: Our official CFP will be released shortly, inviting innovative contributions on topics ranging from artificial intelligence and digital vulnerability to multispecies relations and the Anthropocene.
